On April 25, 2008 the Texas Iron Spikes and Texas Baseball Diamond Crew will host the Seventh Annual Spring Classic Softball Tournament benefiting the future Dell Children’s Medical Center of Central Texas. While being the official men’s baseball spirit group, Texas Iron Spikes is the premier service organization at The University of Texas at Austin, prided on its dedication to helping and improving our campus and community. The Texas Baseball Diamond Crew serves as the official hosts/hostesses of The UT Baseball Team. United we bring our campus and community together to play in a benefit softball tournament. But more importantly, united, we give back to the children.

For the past 15 years the Children’s Hospital of Austin, the only not-for-profit medical facility dedicated to pediatric care in our 46-county region, has reached out to the children of Central Texas and provided them the best possible healthcare despite knowing some families cannot pay. But with the continual growth of the area, the pediatric community is in desperate need for larger and better medical facilities. They need the new Dell Children’s Medical Center, www.childrensaustin.org/?nd=home.

You have the opportunity to help fund a brand new, state-of-the-art hospital. The medical center opened this past summer, replacing the current Children’s Hospital of Austin. But maintaining such a large world-class facility with highly specialized equipment will be a financial endeavor for years to come. All of the proceeds of our non-profit Spring Classic will benefit this exciting community project leaving a legacy for the children and families of Central Texas.

Last year, the Sixth Annual Spring Classic Softball Tournament raised $15,000. With your help and generosity, together we can give the Medical Center even more. Your support is vital to the success of the Spring Classic. Contributions of all sizes and types are needed and much appreciated.
